Libertyville Lodge's Other Worshipful Master

This year at Libertyville Lodge #492, we are fortunate enough to have not one, but two sitting Worshipful Masters.  How can this happen?  It's quite simple, RWB Graham Southall is the newly installed Worshipful Master of John Carpenter Lodge #1997 located in London, England.

WB Geoff Cooper was present for RWB Southall's installation and provided a wonderful account of the event:

On May 12th, in a land far away (London, England), one of our brothers, R.W.B. Graham Southall was installed in the chair of King Solomon of John Carpenter Lodge #1997 (UGLE) according to ancient custom.  The ceremony took place in the Hong Kong temple at Mark Mason’s Hall in London.  Mark Mason’s Hall, in common with most lodge halls in South East England, has many lodge temples that are hired out to various lodges for lodge meetings and Lodges of Instruction, so that they are in constant use five days a week.

The pictures above show the lodge room layout from the left of the Master’s chair and Graham with his Master’s Jewel.  The Hong Kong Temple is one of the smaller temples and it was absolutely full with about 50 members and visitors in attendance.

John Carpenter lodge was granted its charter in 1883 and is a Hallstone Jewel Lodge (I encourage you to Google this to avoid me having to explain here) but the Master is required to wear this Jewel to all meetings (below).

After the installation ceremony, the attendees were greeted with a Champagne reception and Graham serenaded at the festive board (dinner for the unfamiliar) with the Master’s Song and afforded all the usual accolades that accompany such ceremonies.  All in all, a very grand and enjoyable event, which I was very honored to attend.
